Mecanoo competition in Rome, Italy 
An important source of inspiration for Mecanoo’s building design were the existing centuries-old banyan trees on location. 
It’s just a proposal, so it may never happen. Supposed to coincide with the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010. Editor´s comentary: yes, it is going to happen. Stay tuned and see how and why in our forthcoming exclusive interview.
