Painter Jackson Pollock was the leading head of American Abstract Expressionism. His complex work, which suffered transformation sometimes abruptly, is mostly recognised for his “Action Painting” technique consisting of laying the canvas on the floor and painting almost as a performing act. In another period of his life he explored the “Dripping” technique. In both cases the resulting work could be considered an “All Over”, indicating that the logic of the painting extended beyond the edge of the canvas in an endless manner. This film from 1951 shows him during one of his “Action Paintings”, just a few years before his dramatic death in 1956.
