Dancing With Missiles, Diango Hernández

Diango Herández is a contemporary internationally-recognised Cuban artist whose work is often categorised as “political art”. “Dancing with missiles” is a video that overlaps US-Army maps and photographs of Cuban military facilities during the 1962 Missile Crisis (Cold War confrontation between US, Cuba and the USSR), and footage of a Russian ballet master. A very subtle way of accusing the Soviet Union of orchestrating the whole conflict. This video was shown at Galería Pepe Cobo at the contemporary art fair ARCO 05.
