Studio Banana interviews Rosario Hurtado from the Berlin-based radical design studio El Último Grito.
El Ultimo Grito is the creative partnership of Rosario Hurtado and Roberto Feo. Founded in 1997 in London where they worked until April 2007, they have now relocated their studio in Berlin, and live between the two cities. El Ultimo Grito’s work continuously researches our relationships with objects and culture, exploring them across disciplines in a wide variety of projects which range from interiors to graphics. Their work has been widely published, awarded and exhibited in temporary and permanent design collections.
Rosario Hurtado was born in Madrid in 1966. She coursed studies in Economics at Alcala de Henares University in Madrid, before moving to London in 1989. She studied Cabinet Making at the London College of Furniture and completed her BA in Industrial Design at Kingston University. Since 1999 she is a principal lecturer at the Design Department of Goldsmiths University in London. And Since 2006 she is a Senior Design Research Fellow at Kingston University.
Roberto Feo was born in London in 1964 but grew up in Madrid, Spain. He coursed studies in Sociology and Social Anthropology at Complutense Univesrsity in Madrid, before moving to London in 1990. He studied Furniture Design at the London College of Furniture and completed his MA in Furniture Design at The Royal College of Art in London. Since 1999 he is a principal lecturer at the Design Products Department at The Royal College of Art in London. And Since 2006 he is a Senior Design Research Fellow at Kingston University.
